Volunteer with us
The Sydney Cancer Centre has a comprehensive patient support volunteer service. Our mission is to extend and enhance the care and support we provide to patients, their families and friends.
Volunteers are a vital part of the Sydney Cancer Centre and assist in many different ways. Some volunteers work behind the scenes and help with administrative tasks and others have more direct contact with patients and families.
The Cancer Support Volunteer Service achieves its aims of enhancing and extending the care and support provided to patients and their carers by:
- Supporting the services of the Sydney Cancer Centre and its staff in providing a welcoming, friendly and caring service.
- Providing holistic practical and emotional support to cancer patients and their families while visiting the Sydney Cancer Centre either as an inpatient or outpatient.
- Offering support to cancer patients and their families undergoing care and treatment at the Sydney Cancer Centre.
Other Volunteers conduct creative workshops for patients of the Sydney Cancer Centre and their carers.
Volunteers commit to volunteering for a minimum of four hours each week for at least six months. Most positions require volunteers to attend the same day each week either in the morning, afternoon or the full day during business hours, Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
